The Ministry of Education has announced the return to in-person learning for OCDSB and OCSB students next week.
Yellow school bus and van service for grades Kindergarten to 12 will be reinstated on Monday, February 1, 2021. OC Transpo will resume service to all secondary schools on this day as well. Students with special needs will continue to receive transportation to OCDSB and OCSB system classes.
*New – All students from grades 1 to 12 will be required to wear a face mask (cloth or medical), and students in Kindergarten are recommended to wear a mask, on all vehicles, including school buses, vans and wheelchair buses. Exceptions will be made for students who are unable to wear masks for medical reasons. If this is the case, please advise OSTA, the Operator or the school. Note: a neck warmer or scarf is not considered an appropriate face mask on board vehicles, for more safety tips click here.
For the safety of bussed students, drivers will be stopping at every stop on their route to ensure no students are left behind. For secondary students attending cohorts, parents/guardians are encouraged to confirm their child(ren) ‘s schedule to avoid confusion on online learning days.
Please note there may be delays and cancellations due to the short turnaround time. Routes cancelled due to a driver shortage, or other reasons, will be posted on OSTA’s online Parent Portal. Parents are urged to check the delays and cancellation page daily for the most up-to-date information. Any long-term cancellations will be posted to our long-term OCDSB and OCSB cancellations lists. Please sign up for our mailing list through the Parent Portal to receive automatic notifications to your phone or computer.
We appreciate your continued support and efforts to keep students and our drivers safe.
