The Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA) is responsible for all home-to-school transportation on behalf of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) and the Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB).

OSTA delivers safe and efficient transportation services to over 124,000 students at both its Member School Boards using yellow buses, wheelchair buses, school purpose vans and School Active Transportation programs.

Our Service area covers 2,670 sq. km and includes 227 schools.


History

In January 2007, the two transportation departments of the OCDSB and the OCSB were combined to form the Ottawa Student Transportation Authority Consortium. At that time, OSTA became an independent organization with its own staff and operations with a Board of Directors made up of Directors, staff and Trustees from both Member School Boards.

School Active Transportation

Since 2014, OSTA has been a leading promoter of Active Transportation by improving resources and supporting students and schools through innovative programs and initiatives:

  • 12 Active SATP Schools
  • 13 walking school bus routes
  • 30 graduated SATP schools
  • Pedestrian training 33,000 at 80 schools
