On Saturday, April 11, 2015, the Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA) hosted its first ever Driver Appreciation Day. We called upon school children all over the city to make thank you cards to be displayed at the event, and our students did not disappoint. The countless cards contained beautiful artwork and heartfelt messages from grateful school bus riders. The tremendous outpouring of support was truly touching. Congratulations go out to the following for receiving Safe Student Transportation Awards:
Over 200 school bus drivers attended the event, for guest speeches from members of our Board of Directors, and representatives from our partner school boards. There were door prizes, refreshments, and a slideshow. We hope to make this special event an annual tradition to support our school bus drivers. Thank you for the work that you do.

On Saturday, April 11, 2015, we will be hosting its first ever Driver Appreciation Day. This event gives us the chance to show our drivers how much we value their service. The event is for drivers and invited guests only, but you can still show your support!
We’re asking students to create thank you cards to give to their school principals. These cards will be given to OSTA and then displayed at the appreciation event. Everyone is invited to post positive message on our Facebook group – OSTA Driver Appreciation
“A driver’s welcoming smile and helping hand are so crucial to giving students the best start and end to their school day. Sometimes we forget how integral drivers are to the education of our youth and this event is a great way to remind ourselves of the importance of the driver in our business”, Vicky Kyriaco, General Manager/CAO of OSTA.
The event will be informal. Awards for safe driving will be given. There will be a slideshow, guest speakers and door prizes, as well as refreshments. Any drivers interested in attending the event should contact their dispatch. Email us as [email protected] for more information.
