Elmdale PES Summary

The feedback expressed a concern with crossing Kirkwood at the intersection of Kirkwood at Iona. Students can use other intersections to cross that are controlled.

The feedback expressed a concern with traffic at the intersections of Clarendon at Wellington, Island Park at Byron and Island Park at Wellington. All these intersections are controlled by traffic lights and have cross walks.

The feedback expressed a concern with traffic volumes on Byron and Wellington. Traffic counts along Wellington indicate minimum thresholds are met. Both are signalized intersections and have low posted speed limits.

The feedback expressed a concern with the extra traffic using Wellington and Scott due to LRT construction. No one crosses Scott Road because of a hazard zone and Wellington has several signalized crossings with cross walks.

The feedback expressed a concern with traffic volume at the intersection of Scott at Carleton but Scott has been identified as a hazard and no students are expected to cross Scott.

The feedback expressed a concern with the traffic at the intersection of Richmond and Kirkwood which is also a signalized intersection.

The feedback expressed a concern with traffic and safety crossing Island Park at the intersection of Iona at Island Park. A new traffic count was done and the notes show a count of 1397 vehicles/hr which meets the minimum threshold criteria for 10 points. This intersection has a signalized pedestrian crossing.  A traffic counts was conducted.  Observations of pedestrians were made and it appeared that students were getting across without difficulty.
Outcome: No changes to the maps required.
