OSTA Safety Poster and Writing Competition

OSTA Safety Poster and Writing Competition – Terms and Conditions (as of May 12, 2021)

1. This poster and writing competition relate to safety themes for:
   1. School Active Transportation (SAT) – Walking and Rolling to School
   2. School Bus and Public Transit Safety
2. All OCDSB and OCSB students are welcome to participate.
3. The student’s first name only, and grade, should be on the front of the work.
4. OSTA may post online, reproduce or otherwise use the winning artwork and written submissions in any way it deems fit.
5. Submissions will be accepted in the following electronic formats:
   1. A clear photo of art submission posted on OSTA’s Facebook page
   2. A scan or photo of the art submission uploaded using OSTA’s form
   3. Written submission using OSTA’s form
6. Students may submit multiple submissions in their grade categories, for any themes.
7. OSTA’s panel of judges will include: OSTA Safety Team and EnviroCentre School Active Transportation Planning Team
8. Winning submissions will be judged based on the following criteria:
   1. Creativity and originality
   2. Clarity of message
   3. Correct spelling and grammatical structure
   4. Following the terms and conditions
9. The deadline for submissions is June 25, 2021.
10. OSTA will post the winning submissions on OSTA’s website by July 9, 2021. The owners of the winning submission must then email OSTA the student’s full name, grade, school of attendance, and home address and phone number to: [email protected]. OSTA reserves the right to verify the ownership of the artwork with the parent/guardian or teacher of the student.

Poster

Any medium and size are acceptable for the art competition.  This includes (and is not limited to):

1. Plain paper, poster board or construction paper
2. Pencil, crayons, colouring pencils, markers, paint, chalk
3. Collage using construction paper, magazine cut-outs, other interesting items
4. Digital photography, designs, other free or purchased online graphics and photos

Drawn submissions must be submitted using the OSTA form.

Writing

Written submissions may be in essay, poem or story format and must be submitted using the OSTA form.

To post a photo to OSTA’s timeline:

1. Go to the Ottawa Student Transportation Authority’s main page.
2. Scroll down to the timeline
3. Tap Photo.
4. Tap Add Photo and select a photo.
5. Tap Preview to write a message with the photo.
6. Tap Post.
